Known as a botanical artist Kevan F Willington’s recent work is so tactile it needs to be witnessed in person. These new works have a dimensional quality. The skies or what is known as the negative space in these pieces have a raised polished cracked stone like surface that is one eighth to a quarter inch higher than the subjects in the paintings. It has been said they resemble large ceramic tiles. This polished oil technique gives his work an ancient but contemporary look.
